Why this recipe works

A green smoothie you'll actually crave

The mango and banana sweeten this so well that you'd never guess there's a handful of spinach in it. Greek yogurt and vanilla protein make it a genuinely filling breakfast rather than a sugary drink.

At 38g of protein for 360 calories, it's one of the most efficient breakfasts on the site, which makes it a great fit when you're eating for fat loss.

Chia seeds add fiber and help the smoothie stay thick, so it keeps you satisfied for longer.

Why you'll love it

Bright, fresh and seriously filling

38g of protein

Protein powder and Greek yogurt make this a proper breakfast that lasts until lunch.

360 calories

A big glass that fits easily into a fat-loss day.

Greens you won't taste

The spinach hides behind the mango, so you get the vegetables without the flavor.

Five-minute mornings

One blender and half a banana to slice. That's the whole job.

Make it yours

Ingredient swaps

Use what's already in your kitchen. Here is how each swap changes the dish.

Dairy-free

Use a plant-based yogurt and protein powder.

Coconut water

Adds about 40 calories but makes it taste more tropical.

Kale instead of spinach

Use baby kale and blend a little longer. The flavor is slightly stronger.

Pineapple instead of mango

Frozen pineapple works the same way and adds a sharper, tangier edge.

Meal prep & storage

Freezer packs for busy mornings

Prep a week of smoothie bags in 10 minutes and breakfast is just a pour and a blend.

Best fresh

Serving

Drink it straight away for the best color and texture.

24 hours

In the fridge

It keeps in a sealed jar for a day. The chia thickens it, so stir in a splash of water.

3 months

Freezer packs

Portion the mango, banana, spinach and chia into bags. Add liquid, yogurt and protein in the morning.

5 bags

Portioning

Make five bags on Sunday and every weekday breakfast is ready.

Recipe tips

Texture

Blend the spinach first

Blending the leaves with the liquid first gets rid of any green flecks.

Texture

Let the chia sit

Leave it for two minutes after blending and it thickens into an almost spoonable smoothie.

Flavor

Use ripe fruit

The riper the mango and banana, the less you'll notice the spinach.
